Because Freedom Isn’t Proven by What You Feel — It’s Proven by What You Refuse to Return To
Let’s tell the truth:
Sometimes you miss what God told you to leave.
Not because it was good…
But because it was familiar.
Comfortable.
Predictable.
But just because you miss it doesn’t mean you need it.
🧠 Missing It Is Human — Returning to It Is Disobedience
It’s okay to feel the grief.
It’s okay to feel the pull.
But going back to what God delivered you from reverses your deliverance.
The enemy doesn’t need you to fall — he just needs you to circle back.
Think About Lot’s Wife…
She didn’t sin with her hands.
She didn’t run back with her feet.
She just looked back.
And the look was enough to stop her deliverance mid-step.
“But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” – Genesis 19:26 (KJV)
Why We Struggle After Deliverance:
- The soul doesn’t let go as fast as the spirit does
- We don’t always see fruit immediately — so we miss the “flesh reward”
- Our identity was so tied to bondage that freedom feels foreign
- We haven’t learned how to mourn the loss of what God removed
If You’re Tempted to Go Back…
Ask yourself:
- What did that cost me the first time?
- Who did I become when I stayed there?
- Did I like who I was in that relationship / pattern / habit?
Freedom doesn’t always feel good — but it produces good fruit.
🙏🏽 Prayer: Strength to Keep Walking Forward
“Father, I thank You for delivering me from what once held me hostage.
Help me walk in my freedom — even when my feelings lie to me.
I cancel every desire to return to what You’ve broken off of my life.
Give me new cravings, new disciplines, and a clear vision for what’s ahead.
I don’t want what used to be — I want what You’ve promised.
In Jesus’ name — Amen.”
